Woodharbor Doors & Cabinetry recently received certification from two agencies that measure the environmental impact of manufacturers- Kitchen Cabinet Makers Association (KCMA) and Scientific Certification Systems (SCS). "Woodharbor is committed to world-class service, quality products and the preservation of the environment for our employees and future generations." said Bill Alger, Woodharbor's director of marketing.
Woodharbor's three cabinetry lines-Woodharbor, CastPointe and Rockglen-are certified through the Environmental Stewardship Program, administered by KCMA. In order to receive this rigorous certification, Woodharbor showed compliance in five categories: air quality, product resource management, process resource management, environmental stewardship and community relations. Woodharbor is displaying KCMA seals on its products so dealers and consumers know they are buying from a cabinet manufacturer who practices responsible stewardship of our country's natural resources.
Two of the company's doors-Woodharbor paintable and PrairieLake paintable-are certified through SCS, a third-party provider of certification endorsed by the Forest Stewardship Council. In order to meet the requirements of SCS for certification, Woodharbor had to meet six areas of criteria, including maintaining adequate inventory control systems that allow for separation and identification of certified product.
With the Recycled Content certification from SCS, Woodharbor paintable and PraireLake paintable doors successfully meet the Materials & Resources credit for LEED. LEED-Leadership in Energy and Environmentl Design-was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council to encourage and accelerate sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria. "We are committed to our green effort on a continuing basis, demanding similar environmental standards from all of our suppliers and contractors." said Alger.
